পশ্চিমবঙ্গ স্কুল সার্ভিস কমিশন (WBSSC) ২০১৬ সালের রাজ্যস্তরীয় শিক্ষক নিয়োগ পরীক্ষা (SLST) বাতিল করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে। দুর্নীতি ও অনিয়মের অভিযোগের ভিত্তিতে দীর্ঘ আইনি প্রক্রিয়ার পর এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। কমিশন ঘোষণা করেছে, খুব শীঘ্রই নতুন করে পরীক্ষা নেওয়া হবে এবং তার জন্য বিস্তারিত বিজ্ঞপ্তি প্রকাশ করা হবে।

Indicative Vacancy Details (Subject to Change):

The WBSSC has released an indicative count of vacancies:

• Assistant Teacher (Classes IX-X): A total of approximately 23,212 indicative vacancies across various subjects and mediums.
• Assistant Teacher (Classes XI-XII): A total of approximately 12,514 indicative vacancies across various subjects and mediums.

Who can sit for WB SLST IX-XII 2025 Examination?

Here are the eligibility criteria (who can sit) for the WB SLST 2025 (for Classes IX–X & XI–XII, Assistant Teachers):

Eligibility Criteria

1. Citizenship / Nationality

• The candidate must be a citizen of India.

2. Educational Qualification

The requirements differ slightly depending on whether the post is for Classes IX–X (Secondary) or Classes XI–XII (Higher Secondary).

Note: Some sources also mention that candidates with 45% marks + B.Ed may be considered under some relaxed norms (in line with certain guidelines) — but the primary requirement is ≥50% in the relevant degree.

3. Age Limit

• The usual age range given is 21 to 40 years (as of 01.01.2025) for the SLST 2025.
• Relaxations in upper age limit are applicable:
  • SC / ST: +5 years
  • OBC: +3 years
  • Physically Handicapped: +8 years

Some older or related documents for SLST (XI–XII / IX–X) mention a minimum age of 20 years, but for the 2025 drive, the notice mentions 21 years.

How many candidates were there in each category of WB SLST IX-XII 2016 exam?

Approximately 10,233 vacancies were announced for classes IX-X and 6,296 for classes XI-XII. According to the WBSSC council’s official data, a total of 3 lakh 29 thousand students took the exams from 9th to 10th and 5 lakh 54 thousand students took the exams from 11th to12th. But a special survey of qualified, disadvantaged job seekers revealed that this number is much lower.
