Dyslexia is a lifelong, brain-based learning disorder that affects reading, writing, and spelling. It is not related to intelligence. Dyslexia occurs due to differences in how the brain processes language, particularly difficulty in connecting letters with their corresponding sounds.

Common symptoms include slow and inaccurate reading, difficulty with rhyming, spelling, and sounding out words, as well as a tendency to reverse, omit, or mix up letters and words.

Dyslexia is the most common learning disability, affecting individuals from all backgrounds and languages. It is genetic in nature and often runs in families.
